ABOUT

city-of-edinburgh-skyline.jpg

Edinburgh, our capital city of Scotland, is crying out for more affordable homes and we believe we should all be looking to deliver more affordable housing for our communities and for the next generation – and that includes students.

Part of the problem is the outdated ideology that housing should be privately controlled, debt-fuelled and highly unequal. It is time to dismantle this outdated system and build an alternative based on the idea of a universal right to good housing.

Much more needs to be done in policy change to encourage developers to put forward planning proposals that will prioritise the needs of local people and communities rather than maximising profits.

Shifting the balance of power away from landlords, developers and speculators, and towards tenants, activists and residents; will ensure a fairer, better and more equal society. This urgently needs to be addressed within the next parliamentary term at Holyrood.
